CENTER-Services for Alma Mae Carter, 100, of Center, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Dexheimer officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bienhoff Funeral Home, Center. Mrs. Carter passed away at 7:23 a.m. December 29, 2012 at Westview Nursing Home in Center. She was born October 9, 1912 in Center, the daughter of French E. and Georgia E. Lake Flowerree. She was married to Alva Carter on September 11, 1937 in Hannibal and he preceded her in death August 31, 1989. Survivors include: one son, Roger (Dana) Carter of Center; one daughter, Betty (Roger) Huff of Center; five grandchildren, Chad (Judy) Huff, Laura (Brian) Hummel, Heather (Jeff) Hammontree, and Christina Carter, all of Center, and Stephanie (Jonathan) Conrad of New London; seven great-grandchildren; other family members, Donald (Cheryl) Carter of Jefferson City, Norma Jean (Jim) Brown of Center, and Marcia (Jim) Becker of Chesterfield. She was preceded in death by one infant brother and one sister, Virginia Carter. Mrs. Carter was a lifetime area resident and homemaker. She was was a member of Salem Baptist Church and loved to do church work at Olivet Christian and Ariel Christian Churches as well as her own church. She worked at Zimmerman's Bakery in Hannibal for several years. She loved to cook and enjoyed being with her family. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society. Pallbearers will be Chad Huff, Brian Hummel, Jeff Hammontree, Jonathan Conrad, Glen Manley, and Berdette Cook.
