LADDONIA-Services for Nancy Ellyn Stafford, 62, and William Edgar Stafford, 67, of Laddonia will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Vandalia with Reverend Mike Barter officiating. Burial will be in Vandalia City Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Family Life Center, Vandalia. Arrangements are under the direction of Bienhoff Funeral Home, Laddonia. Mr. and Mrs. Stafford passed away January 6, 2013 from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Bowling Green. Nancy was born October 30, 1950 in St. Joseph, the daughter of Chester and Florence Calvin Gray. William was born October 20, 1945 in Mexico, the son of Edgar and Beulah Mae Fowler Stafford. Survivors include; two sons, William A. (Paula) Stafford and Grant Stafford, both of Laddonia; one daughter, Leah (Matthew) Van Schyndel of Mexico; Nancy's sister, Rebecca Bernard of Springfield; and nine grandchildren, Alan, Khari, Bianca, Grant, Aubrey, and Case Stafford, all of Laddonia, Nicholas, Lydia, and Kodi Van Schyndel, all of Mexico. They were preceded in death by their parents and Nancy's brother, Clayton Gray. William was a 1963 graduate of Vandalia R-I High School and then a 1968 graduate of the University of Missouri with a Bachelor's Degree in Science and Agriculture. He served in the US Army in the 4th Howitzer Battalion 84th Artillery. He met the love of his life, Nancy Gray and married her on June 12, 1971 in Columbia. They spent their lives as area residents and farmers. William volunteered for the Central Missouri Radio Squad and the Laddonia Fire Association. He served as a board member of the Ed French Foundation and was active in supporting the FFA organization. His goal was always to keep learning. He enjoyed the scriptures and computer technology and served as the computer technician at his church. Nancy was a 1968 graduate of Harrisburg High School and attended the University of Missouri. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, painting, cooking and baking. Her enjoyment led them to becoming the owners and operators of The Rose Restaurant in Vandalia and Catering Plus for many years. They were very active in community affairs and their church home, the First Baptist Church in Vandalia. They promoted Christianity strongly and were always willing to lend a helping hand. They took the initiative to feed many who were hungry, loved listening to Blue Grass Gospel music, and spending time with their children, grandchildren and friends. They were truly a match made in heaven and were rarely apart. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ed French Foundation, in care of First National Bank, Laddonia, Mo. 63352.
