PERRY-Services for Oval B. (Doc) Swon, 83, of Perry will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at Bienhoff Funeral Home, Perry, with Pastor Jason Yancey officiating. Burial will be in Lick Creek Cemetery with military honors provided by Perry VFW Post 4088. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Swon passed away January 9, 2013 at his home. He was born February 21, 1929 in Greenlawn, the son of Jim and Leona Yancey Swon. He was married to Viola Mounts on November 20, 1948 in Hannibal and she preceded him in death August 23, 2005. Survivors include two sons; David E. (Lois) Swon of New London, and Steve (Pat) Swon of Monroe City; two daughters, Debra Jo (Rodger) Lewis and Terri Ann (Jim) Anderson, of Perry; three sisters, Doris Warren of Springfield, Mary Wasson and Jo Hoyt-Lane, both of Perry; seven grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, James E. Swon; and two sisters, Virginia Walton and Clara Mae Crabtree. Mr. Swon was a lifetime area resident and member of Greenlawn Church. He served in the Korean War in the US Army from 1951 to 1953 and attained the rank of E-1. He retired from North American Refractories after 25 years. He was a member of the Brick and Glass Workers Union #858, and a former member of the Perry VFW Post 4088. He enjoyed gardening and yard work. Memorials may be made to the Perry Nutrition Center or the Alzheimer's Association. Pallbearers will be Rodger Lewis, Jim Anderson, David Swon, Steve Swon, Jeremy Lewis, and Greg Ogle. Honorary pallbearers will be Valarie Brothers, Jayme Lane, Mechele Ogle, Stephanie Day, Ashley Ebbing, and Kelsey Anderson.
